Loudoun County Sheriff Dog Found Safe

Caption: DULLES, VA - DECEMBER 24: Christmas came early for Loudoun County Master Dep. Raymond Sullivan, his wife Tarra and his assigned K-9 Dog Bronco in Dulles, VA on December 24, 2012. Bronco, a German shepherd, escaped Friday afternoon from a groomer near downtown Leesburg, VA. Using social media and pinpointed automated calling, the Sheriff's office put out the word looking for the dog. Numerous tips came in from the public until someone found him about nine miles away near the town of Hamilton, VA. He was found with a blank stare on his face, very dehydrated and physically run down with sore paw pads. And he lost eleven pounds since he escaped and was taken to a vet to be checked out before being sent home with the Sullivans to recuperate. The officer and his wife say they searched for Bronco night and day getting only a couple hours sleep over two days until Bronco was found. Mrs. Sullivan was handing out his picture in neighborhoods in hopes of finding him. For now, he's relaxing with Tarra at home until he's in good enough shape to return to work. Deputy Sullivan however, was back to work today and relieved that he was found safe and sound. He said, 'We're very lucky he was found'. The Sheriff Mike Chapman credits local residents for Bronco's return for spreading the word and offering help to locate the dog. Bronco was born in Hungary, trained as a Patrol/Narcotics dog and joined the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office in April 2009. (Photo by Linda Davidson / The Washington Post via Getty Images)
