Campell Soup announced, 10 August 2007 that it is considering selling its Belgian chocolate business Godiva because it wants to streamline its products to focus on bigger consumer foods like baked snacks, vegetable-based beverages and cans of soup. The company was named after the English legend of Lady Godiva who rode naked through the streets of Coventry to persuade her powerful husband to lift a heavy tax burden on the citizens. According to the Wall Street Journal investors from the Persian Gulf could also be interested in the business along with the major food and confectionery companies. The group can boast turnover of 500 million dollars a year, with a lot of that business done in the United States. AFP PHOTO/JOHN THYS (Photo credit should read JOHN THYS/AFP via Getty Images)
