Restored Lion, Unicorn Returned To Old State House Perch

BOSTON - NOVEMBER 23: Bostons historic lion and unicorn statues, now freshly coated in gold and palladium, were returned to their perch atop the Old State House on Sunday, along with a brand new 2014 time capsule. Brothers Dwayne and Gary Stavros, of NER Construction Management, Inc., worked to secure the statues to their platforms. The statues were removed for a complete restoration in September this year, when a 1901 time capsule was discovered inside the head of the lion. The return of the lion and unicorn marks the completion of a larger restoration project that included much-needed work on the masonry and wood of the buildings west façade, and major repairs to the east balcony.
