Spanish Emigrants Travel To Perpignan For French Wine Harvest

Every year thousands of Spanish emigrants, mainly from southern Spain travel to France to work during the wine harvest. This year UGT Spain union estimate on 15,000 emigrants moving to different areas of France to pick up grapes during the harvest season that it will last around 40-45 days. They will earn a minimum of Û9,53 per hour and a regular salary use to be over Û1,500 per month. Most of the emigrants work usually during different harvest seasons along the year, peaches in France and strawberries and olives in Spain. When the Spanish property bubble was on its highest peak, leaders of groups of emigrants had problems to find people to work during the harvest because the huge job offer from construction companies.
