French Airstrikes in Mali

Caption: TIMBUKTU-MALI-JANUARY 15 and 29, 2013: These images show the location of a French airstrike on a rebel compound just south of Timbuktu, Mali. The compound, reported to be formerly owned by Muammar Qaddafi, appears to have been hit twice, as shown in satellite imagery. With the help of Malian troops, French-led forces consisting of 200 paratroopers and an armed battalion began their offensive on January 11, 2013, to drive the rebels of the militant Islamist alliance out of town (Photo DigitalGlobe via Getty Images)
